Walking with the God who knows us

Who’s at the door?

When Jesus was born the Word of God became a human being. How do I respond to this living person? Jesus likened the word of God and so himself to seed that was sown. Would it be received by the soil as I might receive a visitor?

Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Mark 4v15

I can be busy with my projects so I ignore Jesus knocking. Maybe I thought I knew the word already unwilling for him to come with new meaning.

Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time.. Mark 4vl6

I can be naive about my resilience in accepting this visitor. I can forget that he is with me to encourage, guide and strengthen.

Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop Mark 4v20

I can be receive him as a friend, shutting out the distractions and giving him my attention. The result is a joyful fruitfulness with him.

How will I respond to Jesus this Christmas and new year?
