Walking with the God who knows us

Rest?

Can I rest when there is so much to do?

God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.

Hebrews 4v1

I can slip over those last words about failing to experience rest. It is easy to miss it in our activist society that drives people as scarce resources and glorifies being busy.

For only we who believe can enter his rest.

Hebrews 4 v3

‘Rest’ is not an automatic outcome for Christians. It comes through believing that the Lord has a different value system and that if we are in step with him he gives rest.

All who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest.

Hebrews 4v10-11

I have pushed myself to complete tasks, only for events to unfold showing me I could have taken the rest presented through a simple request or interruption. This rest comes by being led by the Spirit.

How free are you to rest?
