Can I be flexible enough to stop and see what God is doing so I can go with him?
Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I. … I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”
John 5v17-19
This is something I aspire to, but I can’t say I do it well.
Sometimes I sense the Father blocking me. Can I take the hint and hold back? I am determined and I can’t understand why not. I have to believe that all will become clear. Sometimes the Lord opens an opportunity but I am hesitant. I might think of it as too costly but I should take it seriously.
Of course, blocks or opportunities are not all from the Lord. So, the question remains: What do I see my Father doing? Where do I see his love? Can I take a break to reflect?
The other day we were pouring concrete for some steps. We ran out of materials below my target level. I wanted to drive on, but it was the end of the day and we were exhausted. On reflection, I decided to trust God that he was calling a halt. When the bricks were laid we found we had stopped at a great height.
