I am migrating this blog onto a new hosting service. I am still tidying up. I would value any comments.
When overwhelmed by trouble I have a hard time praising God. David does it well.
I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. Psalm 9v1 NLT
In a challenging situation David praises with his heart. He reflects on what the Lord has done in the past. In that encouragement his heart is free to praise.
I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High. Psalm 9v2
David is seeing trouble and joy is a memory, yet through faith he is confident of the joy he will see. In that hope he is determined to praise.
You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked … But the Lord reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne. Psalm 9v5-7
It is easy to become depressed about the success of the wicked. In faith David knows they will not stand. He can look beyond their present success to a future collapse. I have personal experience – What I have manoeuvred into being has not stood.
What the Lord builds will endure. David praises God in patient faith: wrongs will be righted.
I am encouraged to praise God in the challenges that are before me. He has always been faithful. Can you let go of anxiety over the future and praise your faithful God?
