I can be so caught up with my desires or the ideal I am hunting for that I ignore what Jesus is trying to tell me.
“As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
Luke 22v10-12
So how would I respond to such an instruction? I could see myself thinking, Really? Surely a household where they send a man out to get water is not going to be very homey, or, This is going to be a poor household with only one manservant. Will they have a room large enough for thirteen to recline around a dinner table?
In my pride I allow my thinking to get in the way. Jesus sent the disciples to look for a humble man and they had to humble themselves to accept his way of humility.
