Sometimes I look at my failures and am so agitated by them.
Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Psalm 4v1
My friends encourage me. When I meet God he goes further and declares me innocent.
How long will you make groundless accusations? Psalm 4v2
When I was a leader some would malign me. God forgave but others were angry.
I too have accused. I see the consequences of a leader’s decisions in other’s lives. It is a challenge to recognise that the Lord declares them innocent.
You can be sure of this: The Lord set apart the godly for himself. Psalm 4v3
These leaders with whom I am cross, are people like me whom the Lord has set apart for himself. He answers them when they call to him. Who am I to be against them?
Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the Lord. Psalm 4v5
I forget God is sovereign over every decision. He is able to bring good out of bad. When I give people too much authority I demonstrate my failure to believe the Lord has all authority.
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. Psalm 4v8
So, can I trust the Lord for other’s failures and be at peace?
