Waiting for God

I can struggle with faith when waiting. The challenge is often with my willingness to stop and reflect.

God, the one and only— I’ll wait as long as he says.

Psalm 62v1 Message

These are bold words, but I expected everything to be resolved already. When waiting stretches into weeks, months and years, it becomes a challenge.

Everything I need comes from him, so why not? He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I’m set for life.

Psalm 62v1-2 Message

The Lord has been faithful over decades. I should have no problem. He has proven himself to be a rock and he has given breathing room. I have been so grateful.

My help and glory are in God —granite-strength and safe-harbor-God— So trust him absolutely, people; lay your lives on the line for him. God is a safe place to be.

Psalm 62v7-8 Message

As I reflect, I see the Lord has come through every time. He often waited till the absolute last minute and often our reserves were drained. Yet, he was there as a faithful fortress and provider.

So, I come back to my willingness to stop and reflect. My anxiety can drown out all sense of God and can drive me into foolish action. When I stop and reflect on what God has said and what he has promised, I can breath deep and wait. He has promised and he will be faithful.

How do you handle waiting for God?
