Walking with the God who knows us

Chosen to sit with God

At night I meet with God in prayer. Many imagine it being a costly burden, but it is a privilege.

What a beautiful home, God of the Angel Armies! I’ve always longed to live in a place like this, Always dreamed of a room in your house!

Psalm 84v1-2 Message

There is such joy in spending time with him. Why am I chosen?

Birds find nooks and crannies in your house, sparrows and swallows make nests there.  They lay their eggs and raise their young, singing their songs in the place where we worship.

Psalm 84v3 Message

Just thinking of those birds in the temple. I wonder how many campaigns there were to remove them. Yet these birds were there at God’s invitation.

So, I too am merely one other person drawn to himself by grace. I am not here out of worthiness, or competence but another sinner, received by grace.

This psalm helps keep things in perspective. He invites sparrows to sit with him! The Lord chooses. It is a joy, not a source of pride.

How does Jesus see you? Many are too quick to presume that they have no special qualities or they try to shoe horn themselves into one of the spiritual giftings. It is worth asking Jesus to reveal bit by bit what he finds special in you.

So, again: What place has the Lord invited you to?
