Sometimes prayer seems to bounce off the ceiling and I am at a loss as to why.
… God of our help; don’t hold a grudge against us forever. You aren’t going to keep this up, are you?
Psalm 85v4-5
I can take it personally, asking, “What have I done to deserve this?” I review my life looking at failures.
God, you … brought good times back to Jacob! You lifted the cloud of guilt from your people, you put their sins far out of sight.
Psalm 85v1-2
Yet, the Lord has always been quick to forgive. So, why am I troubled now?
… Give us the salvation we need! … God’s about to pronounce his people well.
Psalm 85v7-8
In seeking the Lord there is confidence. As I pray the Lord will lead into salvation.
The holy people he loves so much, so they’ll never again live like fools.
Psalm 85v8
When I review life I usually look at actions and words. Here, however is a deeper issue, living as if there is no God, so caught up with life that I forget him.
This kind of attitude is more difficult to identify than an angry word or a selfish manoeuvre. It needs prayer for God to reveal my heart. It needs reminders to get back into walking with him in everything.
He will work with me because when I forget him, he does not forget me!
