What happens when Jesus makes his home with me?
The Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling
Psalm 132v13
He choses and we are blessed to have him live in our hearts. This is not meant to be co-habitation, a dwelling place has that sense of home and comfortable familiarity.
… here I will sit enthroned
Psalm 132v14
For Jesus, dwelling does not happen easily. There needs to be surrender and trust to live together well.
Jesus was king, yet graciously accepted people’s limitations. There were few places, such as the home of Mary and Martha, where he could freely dwell.
I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy.
Psalm 132v15-16
The fruit of dwelling with Jesus and giving him the throne he deserves include salvation along with its fruitfulness and a changed life. He truly satisfies those who welcome him.
“Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
Psalm 132v17
I would suggest that horns symbolise identity. Here is a reference to the horns of the altars and the table of bread in the tabernacle. When the Lord dwells with me in my heart, he makes my horn grow. He develops my sense of identity as I rely on him. His indwelling develops me to be the person I was meant to be.
How freely does he dwell with you?
