Walking with the God who knows us

Glory

Where movie stars go, people gather around them. Such is glory in our day. What attracts us? Around whom would we gather?

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1v14

Isaiah 53v2 tells us that Jesus did not have any appearance to attract us to him yet John reports having seen his glory. That glory came from being with the Father and being full of grace and truth.

We too can spend our time with the Father. When we are around him we come to see his grace and truth. These impact us and if we allow it, they overflow into our lives.

There have been times when I have gone to the Father brimming over with indignation, only to be met by his unwelcome grace and truth. I have not wanted to hear gracious words. I wanted him to be angry. It can take faith to receive grace and truth, more faith to receive God’s grace and truth to love those we have no desire to love.

True glory and honour is when a life overflows with God’s grace and truth. I value it when I see it, but am I able to receive it from him for my challenging situations?
