How do I walk with the creator of the universe?
I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous, your handmade sky-jewelry, Moon and stars mounted in their settings. Then I look at my micro-self and wonder, Why do you bother with us? Why take a second look our way?
Psalm 8v3-4
We look at the universe ranging from galaxies to photons. I think of Jesus, the one through whom it was created, and he describes himself as …
Gentle and humble in heart.
Matthew 11v28-30
When I look at people, we can be so self important and arrogant. The psalm goes on …
Yet we’ve so narrowly missed being gods …
Psalm 8v5
I look at people as if they were the answer, the gods. I think, “If I just had enough influence, money, power or …” I betray in my thinking by where I look for answers.
You put us in charge of your handcrafted world, repeated to us your Genesis-charge,
Psalm 8v6
I forget who put me in the position I am in. He who gave the task is also the source for the resources.
Why do I think and act as if it is all down to me, as if somehow it were my will that was essential? This posture implicitly drives me to a place of being arrogant and demanding. So, how do you and I walk with the person who while creating the universe calls himself, “Gentle and humble in heart?”
