Walking with the God who knows us

Failure to rest

God is all powerful. So, why do I wear myself out?

Come, let’s shout praises to God, raise the roof for the Rock who saved us! … And why? Because God is the best, High King over all the gods.

Psalm 95v1-3

God is the BEST! He encourages me to share my burdens with him. Why do I struggle to share?

“Don’t turn a deaf ear as in the Bitter Uprising, As on the day of the Wilderness Test, when your ancestors turned and put me to the test.”

Psalm 95v8-9

I worship freely in a worship service when he alone is the focus. When I am in task mode I forget all else and turn a deaf ear to his suggestions.

For forty years they watched me at work among them, as over and over they tried my patience. And I was provoked—oh, was I provoked! … ‘They’ll … never be able to sit down and rest.'”

Psalm 95v10-11

I am so driven toward a goal that I bat away the offer of rest. Rest is for when I have reached the goal, but by then the resting place is gone.

When journeying with Jesus, we go together, knowing that he knows the future that I can only guess at. When he calls on me to change tack or to rest it is because this is the optimum moment.

Can I trust him enough to rest with him?
