There have been times when I have been so hungry spiritually, but can’t bear to read the Bible through which I come to Jesus the source of pure spiritual food.
Some were fools; they rebelled and suffered for their sins. They couldn’t stand the thought of food, and they were knocking on death’s door. [Psalm 107:17-18NLT]
I often excuse myself. I am trying to read the Bible, I just can’t get through. Sometimes, it is because I have become a fool- the Lord has asked me to do something and I have rebelled against him. I can’t even remember it, often I intended to act but never got to it. Yet now, the Bible has become dry and unreadable.
“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. [Psalm 107:19NLT]
I cry for help, a desperate cry of surrender. Asking him to show me any issue that has brought about the problem.
He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. [Psalm 107:20NLT]
That word which we rebelled against so often becomes the means to our salvation. He sends his word to us again, and through it he heals us and snatches us from spiritual death- separation from him.
Let them praise the Lord for his great love … Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and sing joyfully about his glorious acts. [Psalm 107:21-22NLT]
The appropriate response to God’s salvation is praise and worship.
