What do you call the actions of someone who does what they believe right even when it might appear foolish or presumptuous?
It was by faith that Isaac promised blessings for the future to his sons, Jacob and Esau.
Hebrews 11v20
No one can tell the future but Isaac promised a future for his sons. He took a risk based on the promise God had given his father Abraham.
It was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt.
Hebrews 11 v22
Joseph had brought his extended family from wandering in Canaan to a rich home in Egypt. One would think he would be too invested in that move to contemplate anything else but instead he prophesied the Exodus. His faith was not in himself and his life work but in God.
It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months when he was born. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid to disobey the king’s command.
Hebrews 11 v 23
Moses’ parents risked their lives and their children to save Moses. They believed that God wanted to do something with their son and for that he must live.
What would it take for me to believe God was calling to risk life and reputation like this? We have before, but it seems each time the challenge is new and the question real.
