Why is it that hearing from God can be so challenging?
While it was still night, way before dawn, he got up and went out to a secluded spot and prayed. Mark 1v35
Jesus has spent the previous evening ministering. The whole town had come for healing. The next day more would come. Though exhausted he had another priority.
Jesus gets space with his Father. He needs a quiet heart both for his own spiritual wellbeing and to hear the next step.
Simon and those with him went looking for him. They found him and said, “Everybody’s looking for you.” Mark 1v36-37
The disciples were overwhelmed by the needs. I am easily driven by need from a place of peace. When driven, it is hard to find the Lord’s perspective.
To their credit the disciples did not try to fix the situation. They sought the Lord. But then,
Jesus said, “Let’s go to the rest of the villages so I can preach there also. This is why I’ve come.” Mark 1v38
The immediate needs were set aside. Jesus has had time to find the Father’s perspective.
In our day the emphasis on ministry is so strong it can drive out God’s desire for me to be united with him.
How do you find that place of peace to hear God without being driven by others’ agendas?

Early in the day in the quiet of a (new) room in our home. Like the Lord, first thing.
Yes indeed Mike, first thing in the morning before everything crowds in is an amazing space for God.
