Walking with the God who knows us

Joy in spite of circumstances

When things are going wrong we remember the Father to whom we gather.

You have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.

Hebrews 12v22

We lift our eyes from our damaged world to the Lord in power knowing we are secure. We can have joy because he sees and is joyful. Faith does not deny the turmoil, it sees a joyful hope beyond.

You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven.

Hebrews 12v23

Jesus told his disciples to rejoice that their names were written in heaven. Like the child seeing the storm outside confident in the window. The turmoil is thrilling. The security is certain.

You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things … to the spirits of the righteous ones … made perfect.

Hebrews 12v23

We have come to a loving Father who pursues our development, working through everything towards our perfection. He draws us into fellowship with those he has changed.

You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people …

Hebrews 12v24

Jesus and the Father desire for us to join them in that awe inspiring city of God. Jesus’ cross made it possible. Jesus will handle what is crumbling and falling to pieces. Let us joyfully go to him who can be trusted with all things.
