Walking with the God who knows us

Where is the audience?

How do you win an audience and gain influence? These are key for getting our message across. Yet in Psalm 2 the Lord challenges,

Why the big noise, nations? Why the mean plots, peoples?   V1

When my role is putting out a message, I find myself scheming to gain an audience.

Earth-leaders push for position, Demagogues and delegates meet for summit talks,  v2

This mentality incites me to try and control outcomes.

The God-deniers, the Messiah-defiers:  v2

I realise I have left Jesus behind. I am running ahead of him, even calling for help but, I am not setting out …

“to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6v8

Jesus took a different course. When his brothers said,

“Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do. No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret.”  John 7v3-4

Jesus refused to go. His confidence was not in publicity but in the Father who would draw the right people to hear what they needed to hear.

“Don’t you know there’s a King in Zion? A coronation banquet Is spread for him on the holy summit.” V6

I can be so lost trying to prepare my picnic that I forget to prepare for the coronation banquet he is inviting to.
